Keramas is King

At this point, I think I’ve written more of these monthly updates in the Singapore Changi Airport than anywhere else. Love this place and well worth a long layover…

After a whirlwind month exploring Japan, settling back into a routine felt both comforting and a necessity. The pull of visiting Bangkok for Thai New Year was strong, but the practicalities of life took precedence. I decided to move to a bigger house after 3 years in my current house and while it didn’t take a lot - both the search and the decision took a lot of focus and planning. That plus packing up for a quick 2 week trip to the US in May, had all my time gobbled up.

Home Prep

Bali is super beautiful in May - the season is just changing so the clouds let up and Agung starts to show her purty curves.

As the waves get bigger, the winds change for the best surfing season in Uluwatu. During the rainy season, Keramas is good to surf until the afternoon, but each month you lose an hour to hard onshore winds. By June, you need to be out before sunrise, or you best hop on the moto down to the Bukit.

In May, I'm going back for my parents' 50th anniversary, so I bought them a beautiful wood carving of Rama and Sita, the two famous Hindu lovers. It was amazing to watch the carvers work. I also got some linen clothes made for our cruise and was feeling really grateful for how special it is to live in Bali.

Moving House

It’s been 3 years since I lived in this home (left next to the river). I’ve made many memories but the time has come... I’m not moving far (5 minutes down the road 😆).

The location was unbeatable - on a cliff next to a private river, safari park across the river where you could hear the lions roar, beautiful view of Mt Agung, and across the road from the hotel/restaurant I spent most of my time during COVID. But multiple things had me searching for some new digs and like everything in Bali… things always seem to work out for the best :)
