What's been going on...

Dario, Sam, Elon, Jensen — they all seem to think so. But they also make a lot more money by saying it.

Still… things are getting crazy.

As a former keyboard pusher turned machine-talker, I can tell you from the front lines: everyone on the planet will be a software engineer by the end of this year. You just need to know how to talk.

Here’s how fast it moved:

It’s a bit weird. I feel like I can see the future, and it’s made me want to fully stop working… because it’s kind of pointless if a machine can do it all better than me. And people can copy what I create in an instant. But I still want a lot of money so I can do the things I want to do in life. That makes me want to work harder. Which creates an endless loop 🙃

There is a bright side, though.

AI has shone a harsh light on how many stupid things people used to spend years on. Now you can just get those stupid projects out faster and move on. That’s where I think real progress starts in the singularity — it becomes clearer and clearer what is actually worth working on.

Health and fitness will look different. Future generations will find it hilarious that we didn’t pour everything into curing cancer and heart disease, and instead built OnlyFans and endless entertainment.

Mindfulness is going to matter more than ever. There’s going to be so much content, so much creation, so much noise. Being in control of your own mind and thoughts — being conscious of them — and having real empathy for others (not the suicidal kind) will become a competitive advantage.

Community will matter more too. Why do some communities thrive while others don’t? Culture, morals, and law are going to become more important, not less, once goods and services get closer to abundance.

Thriving societies will split into two clear paths: strict enforcement (China/Singapore/El Salvador) or deep cultural norms (basically only Japan — I haven’t experienced anywhere else on earth where respect and mindfulness of others is deeply ingrained in a society).

So is the singularity here? Idk but shit is sure moving faster than ever before.

The tools just got a lot sharper. What we choose to use them for is till on us…for now 😱

If you didn’t know — Borneo is the third-largest island in the world and is split between three countries: Malaysia, Brunei, and Indonesia (which calls its portion Kalimantan).

I spent the 4th of July a bit differently this year. No booze, no fireworks, no hot dogs. Just river fish, little to no electricity, and zero internet. It felt amazing. I definitely didn’t want to keep doing it forever, but I think these kinds of “disconnecting trips” are going to become big business in the post-AI world.

Sleeping in a boat tied to the banks of a river where you’d just spotted a 12-foot croc is pretty wild. It didn’t help that the captain had recently been bitten by a caiman and had a few pythons find their way onto the boat in the past year. But hey — when in the jungle.

Luckily none of that happened during my few nights. The macaque monkeys did wake us up by raiding the breakfast supply one morning, though.

Weather in July is fucking lovely in Bali. The waves are absolutely pumping — so much so that the only days I actually go surf are when it chills out a bit. That makes it the perfect time to take trips around Bali and the rest of Indonesia.

Unfortunately it’s also peak tourist season, so the traffic is even more bonkers than usual.

Still managed to find a good window to check out more of Sidemen, Bedugul, Jatiluwih, and a lesser-known monkey forest where the monkeys are a bit more friendly. They’ll still jump on your head, but they don’t steal your sunnies — they just want food.

After traveling around for a bit and clearing my head, I settled back into my pimp pad and let the viiiibes come.

It’s true — coding is solved. I felt like I lost my edge at first, but I’m learning to let that go and just give into the speed. I got into this because I wanted to solve problems. Now, instead of basically solving math problems on a keyboard, I can actually get to the real outcomes.
