While this half year has flown by - time always seems to move more slooowly in the islands 🏝️

I had to take a quick visa run before my trip back to the US in July and was thinking about another stop in Thailand/Singapore…but I was craving some waves and wanted to get back to my routine of an annual visit to the Maldives.

Welp, the gods made it happen and it worked out perfectly 👌

It turned out to be the first major swell of the season just as I landed and after a bumpy flight and boat ride, the bumps in the ocean sure did show up.

It was also a perfect time to visit because the country had Eid celebrations the second week I was there. And while the holiday is really only a day or two, they had a week full of celebrations planned - from concerts, to local dances, and other fun events.

Other than that, it was just how I like my surf trips - routine 😉. I’d wake up around 10am, walk to breakfast (local dish of mashuni), go to surf, shower and go for an afternoon iced coffee and snack, have a walk around the island during sunset, then go for Indian dinner, and finish off starting work around 7pm. It feels great to finish your day with work when you’re tired and happy from already doing all the things you wanted to do with your day.
