PJM - November '22

Anybody else put on 5 lbs this month!? For me it wasn't even Thanksgiving πŸ¦ƒ - whenever I'm swamped with work I stress eat... +5 for November.

This month a bombshell dropped in the tech industry (well every industry is potentially affected) that I'm sure you've heard about by now: OpenAI's ChatGPT...

I was going through a new dev course and trying to figure out a complex task at my job when this dropped...and ohh boy is this an absolute game changer. I could have spent days trying to figure out this 1 task - and no joke, it took me less than 1 hour tweaking with ChatGPT (terrible name I know 🀣).

I'm not saying this is going to replace engineers - but it'll probably be like doing math without a calculator. Sure you can do it, but I'd trust my 5-yr old niece with an iPhone over your monkey brain πŸ’πŸ§

PROJECT UPDATES...

NADA

Still working a full-time gig + another side client. I have been slowly working through the new MasteringNuxt course to stay on top of the game.

CURRENTLY LIVING IN...

NEW JERSEY πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

As beautiful & amazing as October was - ehh November kinda sucked 🀣.

Hey - you gotta experience boring, shitty months to appreciate the beautiful, exciting times of the year ;) #seasons

That being said - it is fabulous after 2-3 years of being abroad during COVID to finally be back with family during the holidays πŸ¦ƒπŸŽ„πŸŽ…πŸ»πŸŽ‰

CONTENT FROM NOVEMBER...

Business | Marketing

Most of what you see at first on Amazon is now an ad. I think now is the opportune moment for another player to enter the space. It's not just the ads - the product quality, the hacked reviews, the list goes on...

Seriously great job of marketing here. Between the Zuckerberg Icelandverse and this - Iceland is definitely winning at the marketing Olympics.

Design | Development

A good perspective from a Site Reliability Engineer from Twitter. It was interesting to read about how the systems held up after laying off more than 50% of the company.

Travel & Remote Work

πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ I was one of those people that tweeted @bchesky on Twitter about this. To his credit he responded to me directly and said this is something they need to fix. Sooo yeah - I think he really meant it when he said he heard it "loud and clear" ...you're welcome ;)

This not only saves people's time, it actually benefits the company even more.

Science

Tristan back proving that social media boosts the worst parts of humanity.
